You might ask me where some of those stunning pictures on the homepage were taken. Well, that was at Piódão Ultra Trail this year. I had been there in 2014, for the 25km trail and this year went back to become an ultra-runner.
In March this year, I participated in the Piódão Ultra Trail, my first ultra-trail, the first time I was going to run more than a full Marathon. While 50km was the promise the kind organization of this race gave us a 3km bonus, which I ran during sunset and even had to use my headlight after having started the race at 9AM. It were 50km of a rollercoaster of pain and beauty. Every step next to my friend Rute and the stunning surroundings did not even allow me to think about giving up, despite the warm Spring that was felt that day in Serra do Açor, in the center of Portugal.
One day I’ll tell you more about this debut, for now, a video made by my friends of Correr na Cidade, the Portuguese Running Blog I’m a contributor to (even though I do not appear much in this video it shows the fantastic environment of this race).
Feel like joining me next year? :)
