We’ve been receiving quite some queries about what the best Portugal running races 2019 are. As this is a frequently asked question, we decided to make a list of our favorite Portugal running races 2019, for the second half of the year. Most of our suggestions are for the Lisbon region because we live here and get to know the races in the area better.

We have participated in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon of Lisbon for a few times and we can’t get enough! Given the nice weather conditions and outstanding route, this race is very popular for international runners.

The Marathon of Porto is one of the very few ofical road marathons in Portugal. This race is very flat and in November, in Portugal, the weather is ideal for running. Robert Chemonges holds the record of this race with 02:09:05 in 2018.

They call it the world’s toughest road marathon. Do you dare to run 42K on some of Portugal’s most stunning roads and climbing 1350m D+?

The best running races in Portugal in December 2019 are:

We really like this half marathon because it is much smaller than the other two main ones and hence is less confusing. Also, the route is very flat and nice, along the Tagus River and passing Lisbon’s city centre.

The São Silvestre Race of Lisbon usually takes place on the Saturday after Christmas, at 17h30. The race starts at Avenida da Liberdade, one of the main avenues of the Portuguese Capital and finishes almost on the same place, at Praça dos Restauradores.
